Ethiopian Lawyers with Disabilities Association
Ethiopian Lawyers with Disability Association (ELDA) was established in November 2019 with the Ethiopian CSO Agencies certificate no. 4620 issued on December 9, 2019. It is a membership-based organization that started with 8 like-minded individuals and expanded to more than 180 members throughout Ethiopia. Membership is open to legal professionals (and would-be professionals law students) with disability and associate membership of lawyers without disabilities. Associate membership is open to lawyers without disabilities who are like-minded and wish to make a difference in the lives of persons with disabilities.
The primary target beneficiaries of ELDA are persons with disabilities and their families residing in all areas of the country, who will benefit from the policy advocacy and legal support. In a wider sense, ELDAs work on persons with disabilities will also benefit the whole society by reducing their dependence, ensuring their self-reliance and provides avenues to contribute their invaluable skills in development process. Indirect beneficiaries are members of the association who are legal professionals in Ethiopia.
